It must be Monday morning. Léo has worked through his milk and lingered over his Cheerios far before princess Daphné makes her appearance.

In a few minutes though, the motor switches gears and Léo is joined briefly by his sister before both of them are whisked off to Nanny’s for 8 hours of food, activities, and fun.

Mom is in Switzerland this morning, already hard at work. Dad started dabbling in this weeks projects over his morning coffee. Clifford, the big red dog, sets up shop in the livingroom behind the armchair.

A productive, ingenious, week to young and old!

This is the scene of the crime no one is actively investigating. There is a small chance that someone is passively looking into it, but all signs point to a general disinterest.

My friend John and I headed to the slopes yesterday. Although the scenery has faded away from our minds, our bodies are quick to remind us of our adventure.

John was my first skiing apprentice. He was the first to study and apply the Jon technique. As it was my first teacher / apprentice experience on skis, I learned a few things.

Advise your student to purchase the emergency rescue insurance.

Plan frequent breaks for espresso and hot chocolate in the sun.

Favor the green runs, but insist on the blues. Unlike in the world of economics, a skier should always be attempting runs that are just beyond his experience and abilities.

Pack snacks that are high in proteins and magnesium. Don’t pack bananas.

Favor the slopes that are closest to the car at the end of the day, before talks of fatigue and Jello legs commence.

A wardrobe malfunction was inevitable today. Inescapable even. Agnès’ 12 hour shift in the gynecology ward meant that Léo and Daphné would be sailing the Daddy ship, for better or for worse.

The most dramatic difference between one kid and two is encountered while flying solo. I’m talking about being outnumbered of course.

Fortunately I have home field advantage and a little thing called Fast Trains DVD. What’s more, Daphné stays where I place her. Daphné stay! Thank you.

Mommy heads off to work, Daphné sleeps and Léo gets to watch Oui Oui because he was nice to his nanny.

Today the Hegners got back on the wagon… and it’s off to the races!
