Big Tent Gospel Revival

20120503-232425.jpg

Call it what you will, as soon as you put up some tents and start throwing the word “gospel” around, you’ve entered a very specific realm.

Geneva Bible Institute is hosting the launch of the French translation of the Gospel Coalition next week. 750 attendees. Dozens of gospel themed workshops. Three big time gospel preachers. Lots of big white tents.

I’m pleased to see the return of tents to gospel preaching events. Anything can happen when you step into a tent. We learn this from camping and the circus. We anticipate the unforeseen. We expect the unexpected. It’s truly unique.

Deep, gospel sponsored, heart transformation happens in lots of places, but the big white tent is its natural habitat. Thrive gospel thrive!

Cinema Church?

20120503-231240.jpg

I’ve kept my eye on the Bonneville cinema since it went belly up a few years ago. It seems to make sense that it would provide a natural transition for the Bonneville saints in their quest for more space in a new place.

Well, the old Bonneville cinema is up for sale. The Bonneville saints have renewed their efforts to find something more suitable. I invite you to make the connection

Could it be? Should it be? Would it be? I can finally ask these questions of our eternal provider and get some responses. Somehow the wait is more unbearable now than it was 3 years back.

Don’t leave your seat just yet, that popcorn can wait. This could get interesting.

Grandma

20120503-225850.jpg

Quality grandma granddaughter time came to an end yesterday when grandpa drove grandma back to Lyon.

Daphné enjoyed her grandma so much that she now frequently makes petitions for us to change our policies. Such as our playing alone policy, our not holding her all the time policy, and our not getting what she wants when she wants it policy.

Unfortunately for Daphné, these policies are backed by a solid, one party dominated government that will not put the interest of these policies into question.

Fortunately for Daphné, grandma will be back soon.

General Assembly

20120428-143846.jpg

General assembly season is coming to a close. First there was Champfleuri, then Lyon, then Bonneville, now the Bible Institute in Geneva.

There will be Chicago and Barcelona in July, but these will be especially American, and Americans know how to make administration fun. Or at least they have shown themselves capable in the past.

It wasn’t some German executive that invented pie charts. PIE charts. The first pie chart was of course a real pie. My guess is that it was pumpkin. Pumpkin pie is easily sliced, and you have the important option of coloring different slices with whipped cream.

There was no pie in Geneva today. Just lots of numbers and a year’s worth of stories.

Thank you America for your innovation and your pastries. Someday perhaps I’ll be your ambassador in General Assemblies across Europe… reinventing business meetings one pie at a time.

Coming and Going

20120417-173351.jpg

At the train station, people come and people go. There is no staying whatsoever, absolutely none, or if there is, it is not the intentional kind.

There is however some returning, some discovering, some recovering, and some transferring.

There is even some missing going on here, though fortunately I wasn’t involved. I merely did some stopping, some walking, some looking, some validating and some boarding.

Currently, miles and miles from the station, I’ll do some more riding until the next station where I’ll do some transferring followed by some more riding until St Pierre comes into view.

A short walk, hug, kiss, eat later, I’ll be happy to be doing some sleeping.
